I love my canoe!

I am impressed by the thought, design, and engineering that went into this canoe. It is very well constructed and all the parts appear to be robust and of good quality.
I have had it out on the lake twice for rowing and fishing. It is well suited for both activities. It rows like a dream and just scoots through the water with good directional stability. As for fishing, there is lots of room for your gear and it's comfortable for casting from a sitting position.
Initial assembly and disassembly were intimidating and left me wondering what I had gotten myself into. I was glad this was done at home where the YouTube video was easily accessible. However, once the some experience is gained and the parts are used to working with each other the process gets easier and quicker.

I took MyCanoe out here in Ottawa urban style on the Rideau Canal a few times and at least once in the bush on a lake. It is pretty sturdy and does not tip easy. It is a bit more susceptible to wind drift than a standard canoe. I liked the oar locks but got into a few circular patterns so I need practice! After a few uses the setup and breakdown become easy but the first few tries were an effort! I love the compact nature of the Origami Canoe for apartment and compact car travel and it generates a lot of attention from onlookers. Everyone wants to try and help fold it up! My only comment is that the two separate carrying components are too heavy for one person to carry for more than a few hundred metres and for two persons to carry for more than 10 minutes walking. The duffel bag would benefit from a shoulder strap (I have improvised one) and the main canoe component from wheels (I have bought a luggage hand-cart). For taking out of the car at the dock/riverside and minimal carrying it is perfect. For lugging it more than 5 minutes somewhere, it is a bit heavy even for a 6 foot tall 190 pounder. And I am not sure it would survive portaging Algonquin Park. Paddle on!

Bought to replace two bulky kayaks we could no longer manage off the roof of a vehicle. It is stable and dry - great for our camera gear! Bought the buoyancy floats but will probably never use. Had one small issue which was not crucial but fixed without hesitation - awesome customer service. Very happy with our purchase.
